Play the video:
Step 1 – Define your social media KPIs
Focus on the most critical and valuable KPIs to measure success
Setting up some impressive and fancy large data screens with some shiny lights does not mean that you will have an effective social media command centre. Look first towards your business strategy then devise your social media KPIs so that they support them. Look beyond the basic figures of shares, likes, retweets, etc. A badly defined social medias plan could have dozens of metrics so focus on the most critical and valuable KPIs
For example you might have social media statistics about gender or most popular time of day but are they essential to display in your command centre?

Step 2 – Research your audience
I’m sure you have a long list of social metrics and content to show. Be careful! Choose the right metrics and content to put on the screens.
The metrics you choose are entirely up to you but they need to be relevant to the command centre audience. The people that will use the insights that they see. So think about it! Who is your audience?
Find out who the audience is and do some research with them so you are able to choose metrics that are most important for them. If the data is confidential, do not show it
Step 3 – Design your dashboards
Now, it seems that you’re ready! When you have chosen the social media metrics that are aligned with your business strategy and are also relevant to the audience located in front of the command center, you can then start designing dashboards. Master your command centre software by using it regularly.
Use clear easy to understand visuals, and adhere to your brand guidelines. The dashboards are going to be a mix of graphs, tables and other visualizations. Test them with a reference group to ensure that they will be valuable to your audience and simple to understand. Include clear explanations in your titles.
