5 Social Media Marketing Tips To Live By

These days it’s very hard to get a lot of traffic to your social media channels. For that reason I now give you my 5 social media marketing tips to live by. These five tips are things that will make reading your content easier and more fun for your followers and also increase your popularity. So read on and try them out!

Play the video:

Tip N°1: Subtitles in videos

Tip N°1: Subtitles in videos

When you scroll through your Facebook/Instagram feed do you open a video to listen to it? Well I don’t, so when there are no subtitles I just keep on scrolling otherwise I don’t have a sense of what is going on in the video. Now if you want to make sure that people actually watch your video do the following things:

  • Make sure the video is on autoplay (it starts playing when you scroll over it)
  • Add subtitles to your video to make it more accessible to users. Facebook reports that videos with subtitles get 12% more views. My advice: test it and see what happens!

Tip N°2: Right-time marketing instead of real-time marketing

Tip N°2: Right-time marketing instead of real-time marketing

Posting whenever you want? I think not. Take a deep dive into your social media analytics and find out when most of your followers are online and connecting with your content. Once you know what these times are you can use them for posting to your followers. Profit from the right place at the right time. Take into account that right time marketing time slots can be different for other social channels.

Tip N°3: Watch and Engage

Tip N°3: Watch and Engage

Are you on Snapchat and Instagram? Do you watch stories of the people you are following? If you’re not, you should. It’s nice to see when a company or influencer is following you and that they are actually watching what you’re doing. It’s one thing to follow people, but it’s another to actually engage with them. BE SOCIAL! Make sure to watch at least five Instagram and Snapchat stories every day. And if you can, scroll through your Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook feeds and like or comment on posts from your fans. Your fans will love you for it and appreciate you even more than they already do.

Tip N°4: Create common theme/storyline

Tip N°4: Create common theme/storyline

Instagram, Pinterest and YouTube are your most visual channels, so it’s important they look good. Your Instagram and Pinterest homepage are essential pages in your social media strategy. These are the first pages most people see when searching for you on a certain channel. Make sure they look good by using a common theme or storyline. How can you do this? On Instagram you can always use the same filters and post pictures with the same kind of color scheme (like having white return in every picture). On Pinterest you can use to a theme in every board or for your entire profile. YouTube might be a little more difficult but you can, for example, start every video with the same sentence or your use the same background. This tip is all about figuring out how you want to be perceived on social media so think it through.

Tip N°5: Gifs and memes

Tip N°5: Gifs and memes

If you can’t say it with words say it with memes and gif’s since these are the go-to language on social media. You see them everywhere, no escaping the memes and gifs. And you cannot deny the fact that you probably like many of them and tag your friends in them all the time. So why not implement gif’s and memes in your social strategy? It’s an easy and fun way to connect with your audience, with the bonus of giving them something to laugh about.
