Do all Social Media experts talk like this?
This video makes me laugh, but a colleague told me I actually talk like this!
Yes, I have to talk about topics like ROI, and what the benefits of Social Media are, and yes I talk about checking in… but I hope that I do not really sound like the person in this funny video! Well, not 24×7!
Empathy
If you are like me and have to regularly give advice, start up projects and make evaluations in your company or consultancy, then it is very important to know the situation you are in with your target audience. They might not know about checkins, and tweets and likes.
Try and have empathy with your colleagues or clients. I learnt that lesson many years ago when I was a B2B sales project manager. I had to call on Architects and consultants but I also had to see the projects through to the building contractor, distributor and sometimes the end user. I had to change my style of delivery, words, and approach so that I could be understood clearly and would come across as fully understanding their position and issues.
As Social media experts, consultants, gurus, Jedi or whatever we call ourselves, we must ensure that we understand and talk the same language as our clients or eager to learn colleagues.
Now, you will have to excuse me as I have to go and check if my LinkedIn SSI score has changed in the last 10 minutes 😉
