Apple AirPods and AirPods Pro are products I love to use. I purchased the AirPods in November 2018 and the AirPods Pro versions in February 2020.
However I found that they did not fit well into my ear cavity. This was disappointing to me as it seemed that so many people had no issue at all even when doing the most challenging of tasks with lots of head movements. A few YouTube searches later proved to me that I was not the only one to have difficulties.
AirPods – Solutions to stop them falling out.
I started viewing many social media videos that described solutions based on how the AirPods were inserted into the ear, ending with a little twist. Sadly these did not work for me. I needed to try other solutions. I made a video describing the best two I discovered for the AirPods.
Earhook type products look like an overkill, but they do keep the Airpods in position, but for me not the best fit into my ear cavity. At least it was less likely that the AirPods would fall out onto the floor. However my best solution was the use of silicone earbud covers. For me this was the best result based on my ear cavity size. Every person is different so test as many products as you can.
AirPods Pro – Solutions to stop them falling out.
The AirPods Pro is one of my favorite technology gadgets, second only to my smartwatch. Quality sound and a superb range of functions. This time the product comes with a selection of ear tips, from large to small with an average size attached to the product on delivery.
This time I was expecting less issues with fitting into my ear cavity but alas I still had issues, but a better fit. Eventually I had to do some research on accessories to try out.
I tried an ear hook type product once again. This time the design was much more subtle, with a better secure fit. It came as a pack of 3 pairs with a storage pouch. This was looking good for me but I discovered one flaw. I had to remove them each time the AirPods Pros needed charging. Now I could see why 3x pairs of ear hooks in each box could be handy 😉
Finally, the next product I tried became the complete solution for me.
The memory foam ear tips.
- Very secure fit, the best I had experienced with any accessory.
- They did not need to be removed to charge the AirPods Pro.
- They did not become loose during exercise.
The only negative point I found is that the memory foam ear tips are difficult to remove without tearing. Therefore be careful. Indeed, if they work well, why would you want to remove them? If you do need to remove them I advise to use a small pin or miniature screwdriver taking care not to scratch the AirPods Pro body.
I finally found my perfect fit. Now I can have comfortable long hours of use. The Apple AirPods Pro is now one of my favorite all time technology gadgets.
