The Social Jedi Series is a new fun way to learn about what is new in Social Media. All the animated videos are around 60 seconds long so easy to consume.
I decided to use animation to express key issues and themes in social media marketing. It allows me to use various scenes that I cannot recreate easily in real life. This series uses everyday situations that we all experience. This makes it easy to understand.
There are one minute educational videos featuring the real people behind some of the characters but the majority of the content will be animated.

What is the series going to be about? The series will touch on the latest social media marketing trends and new features of the leading social media platforms.

The featured characters
The Social Jedi Series has a core team that try to address the latest industry challenges and also interact with interesting friends and colleagues. The core social team consists of Clive, Sofia, Karen, and Rod. Sofia is based on a real person and Clive is of course me!
They all have different focus areas. Sofia has Instagram and Snapchat. Rod looks after new clients as well as campaign reporting, and Karen’s focus is social listening. Rod is assisted by the A.I. robot for insight discovery and a crash test dummy that is used to check campaign flows.
There are many other supporting characters but one of my favorites is Chantal, who plays the role of the social media police. The social media police is a concept I invented in a blog post many years ago. The humorous blog post is about a “Social media jail”. I am delighted to now bring the character to life years later via Chantal. She has an extra twist to her character which you can find out for yourself.
The other supporting characters are obvious ones like the enthusiastic intern Damien, the digital marketing skeptic CEO Mr. Jacobs and the impatient sales manager Wayne.
Real life characters are featured in the future as VIPs like the music DJ Cocodurst.
The Home of the Social Jedi Series
I decided to use Instagram as the home of the series. One of my past concepts had it’s home there and now it fits even more with the rapid popularity of Stories.
The series is heavily featured in Pinterest and YouTube, however, Instagram is the home location.
