Looking Back at Twitter Moments
Twitter discontinued the ability to create new “Moments” on December 7, 2022. The feature, introduced in 2015, allowed users to curate tweets into collections to highlight stories or events. This decision was part of a broader move to streamline Twitter’s features under Elon Musk’s leadership, focusing on developing other functionalities
The feature had seen reduced engagement over the years, with its removal from mobile apps in 2018 being an earlier step towards its phase-out.
That said, let us look back at the creation process:
- Step 1 – Go to the moments link
On the mobile Twitter app you will find the link using the small circular cog button. In the desktop version you will find the moments link in the menu area next to the tweets, followers and following links. - Step 2 – Create your moment
Click the create a new moment button. - Step 3 – Add a title, cover image and description
Make sure you select an interesting title for your moment. - Step 4 – Add content
This is the fun part. You can select from tweets you have liked or favorited, or pick from specific accounts, use Twitter search, or add tweets by using their links. - Step 5 – Publish
If you are not ready to publish you can save as a draft and go back to it later which is very handy. - Step 6 – Share your moment
In social media marketing today success is not only dependent on what you create but also how you publish it. Twitter has introduced many new enhancements recently, one of which is Twitter moments. Moments can be shared and also embedded. You can find these options once you have published the moment. Look for the three dots next to the tweet button once the moment is opened. Give your new moment a boost with some paid promotion.
