Let’s focus on comparing Clubhouse vs X spaces.
Target Group – Clubhouse vs. X Spaces
When choosing your social audio battleground, audience intent is everything. Clubhouse remains the stronghold for early adopters, community builders, and niche interest groups looking for deep, focused conversations. X Spaces takes a different approach by using its massive built-in graph to deliver broad reach. This makes it the preferred stage for public figures, journalists, and brands wanting to tap into existing X users without building a new community from scratch.
Signing Up Process – Clubhouse vs. X Spaces
Friction kills conversion, and this is where the two platforms diverge sharply. Clubhouse requires a dedicated mobile app download and account creation, which is a remnant of its initial invite-only exclusivity that demands higher user commitment upfront. X Spaces eliminates this barrier entirely. It is integrated directly into the X app, granting instant access to anyone with an existing account, meaning your audience is just one tap away from joining the conversation.
Usage Differences – Clubhouse vs. X Spaces
The way users interact with these platforms dictates your content strategy. Clubhouse offers a dedicated app experience built around scheduled rooms, persistent Clubs, and serendipitous hallway discovery. X Spaces treats audio as an integrated feature rather than a standalone destination. It blends spontaneous and scheduled broadcasts directly into the feed with direct tweet integration, allowing users to discover your audio event right alongside their daily timeline scroll.
List of Services – Clubhouse vs. X Spaces
Both platforms have matured beyond simple live audio to keep creators invested and drive measurable outcomes. Clubhouse equips hosts with live rooms, replays, in-app payments, structured clubs, and a backchannel chat for silent networking. X Spaces counters with live spaces, recording capabilities, co-hosting features, and aggressive monetization options like ticketed spaces and Super Follows to tie audio engagement directly to revenue generation.
Your Next Step – Clubhouse vs. X Spaces
Social audio requires strategic community building and measurable ROI, rather than just broadcasting into the void. If your team is struggling to decide which platform aligns with your business goals, now is the time to use this post and infographic to decide which platform to join. Clubhouse – How it Started
Clubhouse first started as a small community of beta testers then became a growing network of communities, made up of people with vastly different opinions, experiences, worldviews and perspectives. When it started to grab public attention in a big way there was a mad scramble for invites.

Clubhouse is now open to all but started as an invitation-only audio-chat social networking app launched in March 2020 by software developers Alpha Exploration Co. In December 2020, it was valued at nearly $100 million. On January 21, 2021, the valuation reached $1 billion.
X Spaces – How it Started
X spaces started out as Twitter Spaces.
Those who already have a good quantity of followers on X will benefit from that as an audience when starting to use X Spaces. Share on XLooking back at how Twitter Spaces started. While setting up a Space, you could select who could join with speaking privileges by choosing from Everyone, People you followed, or only people you invited to speak, you send DM invites.

Twitter Spaces back then used the Twitter social graph. Users don’t have to download a separate app or build up a following from zero like you have to do when using Clubhouse in the early days. Those who already had a good quantity of followers on Twitter benefited from that as an audience when starting to use Twitter Spaces.

Hi Clive, is Clubhouse still for Apple users only? I have an Android and would love to try Clubhouse. It seems so different than most other apps out there for social and connecting with others. Thanks for the reviews. I haven’t tried the spaces yet either.
Hi Lisa. Indeed still iOS only. I am 100% sure that you would love it. Yesterday I sat in on a room about up and coming new additions to YouTube and they opened up to the people in the room to advise them on their channels. Twitter Spaces is still in a limited beta.
